Kindergarten Web Connections
Week of May 14, 2012
Memory: God so loved the world that He gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. -John 3:16
Jesus Time: This week’s story comes from Acts 2:22-39 when Peter addresses a crowd and preaches about sin and salvation. We will talk about pastors and others who preach the Good News of salvation everyday.
Reading: This week’s Big Book is I Need a Lunchbox. We will work on the Xx sound as it is used at the end of words like fox and learn the sight words red, yellow, and blue
Math: We will record answers to a two-choice survey on Monday. We will continue this practice each morning for the remainder of the school year. We will also learn about cones, identify the likelihood of events during different times of day, and count by two’s this week
Language Theme: We will begin a unit on insects this week. We’ll learn what insects are, how we can tell them apart from other bugs, and spend some extra time learning about bees, butterflies and ladybugs in the weeks ahead. We will soon be watching some real caterpillars change into butterflies and the metamorphosis of live ladybugs.
Extra PE: We will have some extra PE periods over the next few weeks for several reasons so that I can get in a few extra choir practices with BASIC and the kindergarteners can practice Field Day skills with Mrs. Powers and Mr. Klug to prepare for June 1st. Field Day is a much anticipated annual event held at Our Savior (with lunch at Alcova Park). Students participate in traditional games such as softball toss, 50 yard dash, obstacle course and potato sack race.
Calendar Reminders:
Monday, May 28 - Memorial Day Holiday - No School
Friday, June 1 - Field Day
Tuesday, June 12 – Talent Show and 8th Grade Graduation
