Photo of Church Our Savior Lutheran Church and School has served the Washington D.C. and Northern Virginia areas for over 50 years. We are a congregation of over 600 members and are affiliated with the Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod. We offer many opportunities for people of all ages and backgrounds to share the Good News of Jesus Christ and serve the community both near and far.

We are especially proud of our expanded Day School, which offers a Christian education for children in kindergarten through eighth grade. Our education program is accredited, and we offer one of the best values in private education in the Washington D.C. area. Some scholarship and tuition assistance funds are available.

Greetings from the Pastor:

A BLOCKBUSTER SUMMER

A BLOCKBUSTER SUMMERSummertime and the movies are busy! One blockbuster after another arrives each week—maybe you’ve caught one already! As near as I can tell, the word “blockbuster” refers to a movie that is such a big hit that the lines waiting to see it would “bust up the block.” (That was in a time when movie theaters were often found on city streets, not at giant megaplexes or malls.) Most of the time, these blockbusters are full of ACTION! It’s the same at church during the summer! Maybe not lines around the block, but there is a great amount of ACTION! I know most people think the summer is a “down” time in the life of the church, but that really isn’t the case. God is just as ACTIVE in LOVE for you and me in July and August as he is the rest of the year! During this season of Pentecost, we get to witness the ACTION of the Holy Spirit through Word and Sacrament each and every Sunday! Make sure you pack some of that kind of ACTION into your life this summer! If you are traveling, find a church where you’re visiting (there are resources on the web for finding out directions & service times) to get a glimpse of God’s ACTION from a different venue. If you are in town, I promise to do my best to fill our worship with the actions of God’s GRACE each and every week!
