EARLY COMMUNION CLASSES

Livin’ Forgiven is a preparation course for early communion for member children 5th-8th grade and their parents. This four-session course hopes to lead parents and their children to understand and experience the origin of the Lord’s Supper; understand and experience the meaning of Holy Communion; understand and experience the importance of living a forgiving lifestyle and prepare for their first experience at the Lord’s Table. Parents who feel their 5th-8th grade child is ready to participate in Holy Communion would be asked to attend the four-session course with their child. Please contact the church office for more information.

If you would like to serve as a teacher or assistant for one of our classes please contact the church office for more information.

Eritrean ministry

at Our Savior has been active since 1998. We are one congregation with a special emphasis and resources given to reach out and serve African immigrants from Eritrea and elsewhere.

A service in Tigrinya (a language of Eritrea) is conducted each Sunday at 9:30 a.m. during August - June. (Holy Communion is celebrated the 4th Sunday of each month.) Following the service, a time of fellowship and Bible Study occurs in the fellowship hall. If you are new to the area, this is a great way to get acquainted and be strengthened by God’s Word. Sunday School for children is conducted during the 9:30 a.m. worship time. (There are 4 or 5 times each year when the schedule changes due to special congregation-wide celebrations.)

Our Eritrean ministry is served by a team of faithful, loving servants. Our long-time Eritrean Ministry Coordinator, Mrs. Semret Kidane, prepares our Sunday bulletins and works with Pastor Fredericksen in connecting with our members and with the overall coordination of our ministry. Mr. Paulos Bahta serves as a liturgy assistant on Sunday mornings and for special services. Deaconess Saron Yohannes assists with Sunday morning Confirmation instruction leads various Bible studies and continues to be a representative for the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League (LWML).

The Eritrean ministry at Our Savior also supports and participates in the wider outreach efforts of the African Lutheran Mission in the Americas (ALMIA)—a mission organization that’s intended to equip, train and strengthen existing African Lutheran congregations as well as to plant new churches in the United States and Canada.

The Youth Ministry program at Our Savior is called OSSM (pronounced "AWESOME").

OSSM stands for Our Savior Student Ministry. OSSM begins for students as they enter into 6th grade and carries them through their senior year of high school. We divide OSSM into Jr. and Sr. groups, the first being 6th-8th grade, and the latter being high school students. Middle School Youth meets weekly on Sunday’s from 5-7pm. High School Youth meets every 3rd Sunday from 6:30-8:30pm. We gather for devotions, games, discussions, dinner and fun. Each group also meets for special events and service projects!

Our High School Youth program caters to the needs and interests of high school students, which often differ from those of their parents and siblings. Sr. O.S.S.M. offers a wide variety of social, recreational, and service activities tailored for teenagers.

Our Middle School Youth program provides pre-teens and early teens a special place in our church family through exciting and fun activities, which encourage a deeper understanding of our Christian faith, while enjoying fellowship with other Christian youth.
